A January sunset in Paris

Yesterday after work, I met with a friend for a walk. We both agreed that after two years of ongoing virtual meetings, we would go for a walk instead. This way, we would enjoy Paris while catching up.

Being outside in Paris, any time of the year, winter, or spring, is a delight for the senses.

We ordered teas to go, and we went walking with not one direction.

I saw streets and places that I had never paid attention to before.

We discussed the many challenges of the past two years, the learning experiences, and the importance of creating opportunities to find moments like this one.

Moments that can give us a sense of belonging to a like-minded community of people living in this city.

My favorite spot was when we stopped at Jardin des Tuileries to appreciate the sun setting. We observed the changing light of the sun through the trees, the view of the Eiffel Tower to one side and the feeling of the fresh cool winter air.

What could have been an ordinary Tuesday became a day where connection to nature, this city and its people made a difference in my day.

Life is a journey, every single time the sun comes up again, we get a new opportunity, a new choice.

We get to decide every day what we want to do with the next moment we have.

Finding spaces where we can move, feel safe and connected to others in small ways, adds a dose of well-being to our daily life. These moments, little by little, add up if we are paying attention.

Which is one action that you are taking today to feel a sense of connection to those around you?

Can you slow down for a few moments to observe the sunrise or sunset today?
