Moving from fear to flow in the French Alps

Wishing you a year where you find joy in the most unexpected places.

During the holiday season, I was able to move from fear to joy while skiing downhill.

After a fall on a red, steep, icy slope a few years ago, I was feeling uneasy about skiing again. Part of me wanted to go for mindful walks instead of skiing but part of me was eager to overcome the fear and give skiing another chance.

I reached out for support and found a wonderful teacher that helped me improve my technique, gain confidence, and get into the right mindset. 

With patience and practice, I found joy! 

I was reminded, that when starting a new journey (or a new year) is important to:

  1. Choose your path

  2. Instead of looking down, look forward

  3. Instead of getting distracted with what others are doing, stay focused

  4. Instead of stopping and going, find your flow, your rhythm, your pace. 

  5. Find what helps you to let go of the struggle and find joy 

  6. It takes practice, patience, and courage

A question for reflection is: “which area of your life feels like a long, steep, icy, red slope? How can you find solutions to move forward this year feeling less contracted and more at ease?“
