300 days of morning practice

Ten months ago, our family was going through a difficult time. The intensity and uncertainty were building up. I was waking up feeling tired and distracted. I knew it was time for an upgrade. I needed to feel at my best to support my family in the best possible way.

I jumped at the opportunity to participate in a 30-day morning group challenge. I modified my meditation practice. I decided not to get distracted with my phone until my morning practice was complete. I committed to waking up earlier than my family to start creating time for myself. I started with 15 minutes.

A friend reminded me early in the challenge that there are hundreds of women and men in the world reclaiming their mornings. I felt proud to be one of those people.

What I didn't know 300 days ago was that my morning practice was going to become an essential key habit and was going to completely transform my everyday life. What started with a small-time investment 300 days ago has transformed into almost a full hour! I meditate, journal, move, breathe, and listen to music.

It feels like playtime, my playtime.

It is still hard to wake up some days, but I know that I have found my "magic morning formula". My day is much better when I give myself that time to be present and to feel calm. This has a ripple effect throughout the day in my interactions with others, my productivity and ability to stay focused.

There is not one-size-fits all approach to building new habits or rewiring the old ones. You need to find what works for you.

If you feel that:

  • you are waking up feeling tired and distracted

  • it is impossible to create time for yourself

  • your body is craving movement

  • your mind feels overloaded with too many thoughts

Please pay attention.

You can do something about it.

For those of you who live in Paris, I will talk about this transformational morning journey during the complimentary Mindful Morning Walk that I am leading this Sunday.
