The Eiffel Tower to the right the moon to the left
It's Friday. It feels like it has been a long week.
I have found that it has been harder than usual to resist the urge to check the news updates or the messages on my phone. I have needed to add more layers of structure to my routine.
The other day I hid in my daughter's room while she was having her virtual music lesson in the living room.
When she came back to her room, she found me lying down on a yoga mat, covered with blankets and pillows listening to a guided meditation.
Yes, there was a moment during the day that I took those 30-minutes to breathe and relax in between meetings, working sessions and parenting.
I’ve added these brief moments of calm in a week where it has felt harder to focus.
Another thing that has been helpful in anchoring my attention to the present moment this week, has been observing the moon. I especially noticed it today during my morning walk. I was observing the light and the blue sky. I saw the Eiffel tower to the right and the moon to the left. I was able to bring all my attention to that moment as I moved fast and felt my body and nervous system relaxing.
Have you been mindful about creating moments to disconnect from the news and rebalance your nervous system this week?
