Have you been outside today?
Have you ever seen the sun shining outside in the middle of winter and felt resistant to go outdoors?
This was me this morning. One part of my wanted to stay indoors after a very busy week. I felt I needed rest, a good book and time to write my journals. However, I also knew that sunny days don’t happen so often during winter. I reminded myself how good I feel when I am outdoors. So, I went out.
The moment I got to the park; my attention was fully captured by the clouds. The light tone of blue with very small and light clouds spread throughout the sky.
If there was a way to measure positive emotions, mine would have tippled within the first 5 minutes. I felt grateful for taking myself outside. It doesn’t have to be complicated; it doesn’t have to take a lot of time, but it must happen on most days for me to feel at my best.
We know that there are many benefits of exercising outdoors . The tricky part is to make it a habit and to remind ourselves, that overcoming the resistance to go outside in winter, might be the best way to help our nervous system rebalance and take a break from screens.
