πŸ’ What happens when you eat the last cherries of this season?

Let me explain, living in France has taught me, among other things, the value and appreciation that comes from eating according to seasons.

For several years, I have been buying fresh fruits and vegetables at a small store in the neighborhood. They bring fresh products from local producers twice a week.

Yesterday, the store manager announced that he had brought the last cherries of the season.

β€œThen, you’ll have to wait 10 months for the next batch” - he explained.

Where did July go? - I silently asked myself, as I handpicked each cherry from the box, being fully present in the moment.

🧠 This made me wonder, what happens in life when we know that something good is completing its cycle?

A trip

A day

A month

A year

A decade

A race

A good night’s sleep

A project

A meeting with good friends

There is a cascade of familiar feelings, thoughts, emotions.

Once we process them, we can reflect on what this means to each of us.

πŸ– Seasons remind us that time is passing by, but also:

- To take advantage of the present moment

- To slow down and be aware of what is right in front of us

- To catch what is good, to savor it, and especially to celebrate the good things that cross our path

- To not take for granted those tiny moments that open doors to connect with other human beings, to have insightful conversations, and to acknowledge the power of nature that has so many lessons to teach us.

As my father-in-law used to say when we went to visit him:

β€œI am not sad that you are leaving, I am happy that we had this time to be all together.”

Beyond the challenges of the everyday life, which need to be acknowledged and processed, capturing, and savoring brief moments of connection, can help us shift our attention to a different place.

πŸ‰ I’m curious, which is a life moment or seasonal food that you are savoring right now?
