🏝 What is competing with your sleep, rest, and recovery time this summer?

Sleep, rest, recovery; mental performance, stress management coach; wellness workshops, talks, events

I think about this question often, in my own life and in conversations with clients.

For example, last summer I was experimenting with my own morning routine. I wanted to test what happened if I woke up before 6 am every day during the 31 days of the month of July 2022.

Back then, the sunrise was competing with my sleep, as strange as that may sound πŸ˜‚.

I woke up at the same time and followed exactly the same morning routine throughout the month, regardless of at what time I went to sleep.

I made an intentional choice with a specific goal in mind, which gave me very interesting results, which I will share another time.

However, this summer, my approach to sleep and recovery is a lot more flexible.

It is not better or worse, it is just different.

Each of us is different and unique.

You are the only one who can determine if your current habits and routines are working for you: if they aligned with your current goals and challenges.

Today’s post is an open invitation, to get out of the automatic pilot, and evaluate:

πŸ›Œ What is currently competing with your sleep and recovery time?

If the answer is one of these :

πŸ“²  time spent mindlessly on a smartphone

πŸ‘©β€πŸ’»  long hours at work (without proper structure to protect your focus time)

πŸ“Ί  streaming β€œtv” series for long periods of time

🧠  overthinking

πŸ™„  worrying

🚴 Know that you can be proactive to protect your sleep and recovery time in a way that suits your lifestyle, work style and daily routines.

πŸ™‹πŸ»β€β™€οΈ Is there a simple action that you can take today to protect your sleep and recovery time to maximize your well-being this summer?

🦺 For example: turning off digital devices at a specific time, adding time limits to apps, resisting the urge to watch the next show, or simply taking a 5-minute recovery break to re-charge your mental energy during the day.

I’m eager to hear your thoughts...
