Trees like sculptures
Today might feel like another Monday in Paris during lockdown but nature around us is constantly reminding us that time is passing by. Today is different than yesterday.
During my morning run, I carefully observed the bare trees that have lost their leaves. It felt as if I was passing by a path of beautiful sculptures. I could see a few nests and some other trees that are holding on tight to a few leaves. The Eiffel Tower is now more visible throughout the park.
I feel that the more we can practice this skill of being in the present and observe mindfully the natural world that surrounds us, the more that we can start applying this to ourselves.
It is possible to train ourselves to observe our thoughts with more curiosity and to understand the changes in our bodies with more kindness. A good friend reminded me last week, it is important to think about the interconnection of each part of our body and our mind… like an ecosystem that needs all the right nutrients to flourish and to stay balanced.
Next time that you are feeling that your mind is crowded with thoughts see if you can make today different than yesterday. You can find a tree or a plant nearby and bring all your attention to the present moment with curiosity and kindness. I invite you to build that practice.
