Which moment changed your morning?
Today is a grey looking day in Paris.
Despite the grayness, I went in search for light and color.
After completing 12 minutes of mindful movement without distractions, I let my senses wonder.
I observed with my eyes, listened with my ears, felt with my hands, and captured scents with my nose.
There were many different moments that captured my attention, that made me slow down to take a picture. This is the one moment that I want to share with you because it is when my senses got caught off guard.
When I was trying to find the right angle to capture the color on the flowers above, a familiar scent reached my nose. It was unexpected, yet familiar.
The scent came from small white flowers under these violet ones. It was strong. It made me feel fully present, awake, and encouraged me to slow down.
I knew instantly that that was the moment that I would “catch”, “keep” and share. You can see this as an invitation to go searching for that one moment that can make your morning different than yesterday, the moment that allows your nervous system to relax and that makes you feel connected to nature.
We are living in a time when, for many of us, our daily activities involve screens and sitting long hours to communicate with others and to do our work. There is not a lot of time left to move and be outdoors. It is crucial to be creative to be able to add these moments in our daily lives.
Once we do, it is likely that we will think better, feel better and work better the rest of the day.
